The Editorji office is a space which tries to be as customizable and dynamic as the AI based news app itself. The idea of neural networks connecting everything and everyone forms the inspiration for the overarching design. A network of branching and flowing cyan blue pipes form the networks - physically and virtually connecting desks, studios, servers, display surfaces, light fittings, grab bars and rods.
The challenge lay in combining two spaces acquired at different times and stitching them together for program, infrastructure and aesthetic. Several items of furniture were repurposed and spaces combined or reprogrammed to meet the needs of the expanding media office.
Programmatically the space houses a newsroom, private offices, a dedicated studio, AV booths, and a series of formal and informal meeting spaces for brainstorming and collaboration or simply moments of pause over a cup of coffee. Given the versatility and customization possibilities of the news application, we felt the spaces should also adapt to become backdrops or settings for conversation when needed. Furniture combinations and loose pieces were planned accordingly.
Together with our hand lettering team, we animated several surfaces to present facts about the technology industry and the science behind the application. Our colour palette and visual cues came from the identity designed by the ITD team.
